Wednesday nights usually find me taking a few moments to stop after our small group time to pray and find a way to thank YOU, LORD for allowing me to partner with YOU here in Monroe. Tonight i feel your love in the gentle and kind folks here who have allowed us to see your power at work. Tonight I want to thank you for the kind folks who extended the request to us to come here and to walk together with folks who have loved you and served you faithfully.
One such brother, Craig, has been able to help me understand the ways of the Michigan folks, to walk patiently with you and with him as we seek loving change. He has allowed me to be more and more bold as we pray to YOU, daily, LORD for your word to bear fruit. I asked Craig to share a night's blog, knowing that he would polish the words, pray over your will, and come up with a challenge worthy of the Noble task we have accepted as leaders for your church. Specifically, tonight, here are the thoughts that Craig shares. Enjoy and be challenged!
" I’m Possible," by Craig Savonen
As we near the annual Easter celebration commemorating the Resurrection, which we can choose to celebrate daily, it is awesome to view and review what was said and transpired in those days that Jesus walked the Earth.
As in the episode when Jesus counseled the rich, young man (and His disciples) how very difficult (i.e.impossible) it is to navigate the path to heaven on our own………
When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:25-26 NIV
….while reminding and assuring us of the greatness of the Creator of the Heavens and Earth.
“But God raised Him from the dead, freeing Him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on Him.” Acts 2:24 NIV
As with many long held self-perceptions or thought patterns we acquire and unintentionally protect from the past, if we look closely, Jesus will flip them upside down (or right side up, actually!).
Yes, Jesus, the sinless King of Kings paid the ultimate price for each and every one of us through extreme torture and death.
But, he did not arise by the ‘skin of his teeth’ or limp weakly into the sunlight. Rather, he burst forth from the earth in full physical and spiritual power and glory, even after having paid the price for our sins in full!
The immense power bequeathed to the Son of God is such that it was impossible for death to keep its hold on Him. No debate or negotiation accepted with the defeated powers of darkness.
God changed the impossible to I’m possible!"
AMEN, Craig, thanks!
